Three-ball Illustration Be Sure You're a Christian. (4 of 4)

Stacey:
Now we'd like to share with you an illustration that explains exactly what it means to enter into a relationship with God.

Kevin:
And in order to do that, we're going to let this blue ball represent man, the why's of each one of us.

Stacey:
And this gold ball (indicate the ball on the other end) will represent God, the Creator of the Universe who loves us and wants to have an eternal relationship with each of us. But there is a problem --- this ball (indicate the center ball) represents SIN.

Kevin:
That would be all the stupid things that we do to hurt God, to hurt each other, and to hurt ourselves.

Stacey:
These are things like hatred, anger, jealousy, greed, lying, cheating, stealing. These actions and attitudes separate us from God.

Kevin:
Exactly. It's these things that prevent us from having that relationship with God.

Stacey:
As we can see from this illustration, if man and God are ever going to have a relationship, somehow this barrier of sins has to be dealt with. God's perfect justice cannot simply ignore our sin against Him.

Kevin:
The cross is the symbol of the sacrifice that Jesus made for each one of us in order to satisfy God's justice. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God did for us what we could never do for ourselves. He removed the barrier of sin once and for all so that we could begin that relationship with God.

Stacey:
And three days after the crucifixion, God raised Jesus from the dead as eternal proof of His approval for what Christ had done for us on the cross. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man - comes to the Father - except through Me." The death of Christ on the Cross provides forgiveness for our sin, but we're still separated from God.

Kevin:
But God wants each one of us to accept His gift of forgiveness and to invite Jesus Christ to become a part of our lives. But what does that really mean? Well, think about the things that we've already talked about. Becoming a Christ follower is a decision that we make that involves our intellect, our emotions and our will.

The very moment that we are willing to make that one hundred percent commitment to God and, in our own words say "Thank you, Jesus, for dying for my sins. Come into my life and make me the kind of person you want me to be." - at that very moment, Jesus Christ restores the relationship between God and man and forgives us of our sins.

Stacey:
Take a few minutes right now to think about the amazing truths that you've heard during this presentation.

questions & answers

Q: How do we know Jesus really existed?

A: By examining the evidence. No reputable scholar really doubts Jesus' existence. Even his enemies never attempted to dismiss him as a myth. Jesus was a real person whose life and historical impact is irrefutable. In fact, according to leading historians, no one has had a greater impact on our world than Jesus. (read article)
